Our Spyglass Ridge HOA Confiscated our $2000 Landscape Deposit because the Caliper of our Deciduous Tree was short of the required 1.5″ caliper. Now it turns out the caliper measurement was not performed correctly Tree Caliper Measurement PDF, what should I do next?

What is the Purpose of an HOA? HOA’s are intended to maintain property values and promote peace and harmony within a neighborhood.” Jeffrey B. Cullers, Herms & Cullers, LLC

This Homepage provides access to the information pertaining to why the Spyglass Ridge HOA confiscated Pam & Greg Smith’s $2000 Landscape Deposit based on their backyard Maple tree having a trunk caliper that was at worst 1/8″ short of the required 1.5″. This site was created so that members of the Spyglass Ridge Community would be able to learn about their HOA’s decision. This site may also provide advice for other HOA’s around the country to avoid such petty oversight that in no way benefits their communities.

  1. I am so sorry. I own a lot on Liberty View Court and never had any real issues until a few years ago when a new Board took over. Now I am constantly getting letters about weeds etc. The lot is almost barren of any vegetation but apparently that is not good enough and they want to create the next Dust Bowl by having the lots just be dirt. I did win a few small victories a couple years ago by citing some of the State’s rules on HOA’s that they were violating. I feel your pain and hope you get it resolved because that is ridiculous. I think I would have figured out how to put some fake bark on it or something!
